Edge protection and safety ladders can save lives – but they could also help your company to win recognition in the Roofing Awards 2014.
The National Federation of Roofing Contractors has officially begun accepting entries for the upcoming round of the awards, with an application form available for download.
Accompanying the form is an outline of the different aspects of the roofing installation that will be taken into account by judges – including the importance of safety.
Winning entries should demonstrate “safe use of ladders and access platforms”, as well as an “appropriate hierarchy of fall protection”.
The latter might be achieved, for example, through a combination of edge protection and man anchors, providing several layers of protection.
A further point of assessment is “safe movement on and around the roof area (without damaging the roof covering)”.
Here, walkovers and aluminium walkways could provide one solution, clearly marking a safe route, levelling out any obstacles or uneven rooftops, and preventing heavy footfall from damaging fragile sections of the roof itself.
Entries can be made until January 24th 2014, with a luncheon scheduled for May 16th, at which the winners will be announced.
